Bed frame DIY – DIY bed frames are an affordable alternative to expensive bed frames. Even without extensive knowledge of the design, you can make a bed frame that will support the bed and to improve the look of your bedroom. When you make a bed frame, measure the bed itself and the space you have in your house; you may need to take the frame into pieces and assemble it in the room to avoid getting stuck in low doorways.
One of the easiest ways to make your own bed frame DIY is to build a low, slatted platform. To do this, measure the length and width of your bed and buy six planks of sturdy wood that is about 4 inches shorter than the width. Look for boards that are about 9 to 12 inches wide for the best support, or use a larger amount of thinner boards. For the base of the frame, buy two thick 4 inch by six inch boards which are slightly shorter than the length of the bed. Place the thick slices about 4 meters apart and put planks across them, evenly spaced. Nail or drill the planks to the base boards to end the frame. You can sand the edges of the boards and uses paint or varnish to finish the frame, or you can leave it as it is.
If you want a bed that is raised to a certain height or you do not have a box spring, you can build a box platform to support your mattress. Measure your bed and buy two thick, sturdy planks that are 1 foot shorter than the width and the two that are one foot shorter than the length; the width of the planks becomes the height of the bed frame DIY.
